Is it Time to Upgrade or Replace My PC?  Maybe Not!

If your computer is performing a lot slower than it used to or just seems to have lack-luster speed with many of the programs and games you are running, you may think it is time for an upgrade or even a new PC.  Well, before you drop the cash in this difficult economy to upgrade or buy new, you should evaluate options to improve the performance of your current PC and see if it provides a satisfactory increase in overall speed.

 

A computer system is much like an automobile in that it requires regular maintenance to keep it humming in tip top shape.  You wouldn’t continue to drive your car year after year without changing the oil and getting regular tune-ups would you?  The PC is a complex machine just like a car and requires the same routine maintenance to prevent errors, system crashes, decreased productivity, and slow performance.  

 

After about three months of using a new computer, the hard drive will start picking up spyware/adware and disjointed clusters from installing and uninstalling programs, leading to slower access times.  Your operating system will also suffer as missing and broken links begin to appear in your Windows registry leading to errors, system lock-ups, and crashes.
